Welsh Birth Control

THE SCENE: Gather around everyone, and hear Gerald of Wales’ account of the magic sex-rock of Anglesey.

THE TEXT: You will find much on Anglesey which is worth of your attention. There is a stone almost in the shape of a human thigh-bone which has this extraordinary property, so often proved true by the local inhabitants, that, however far away it is carried, it returns of its own accord the following night. The Earl of Shrewsbury heard of the properties of this stone. To test it, he had it attached by iron chains to another much larger stone and then thrown far out to sea. Early the next morning, to everyone’s astonishment, they found it back again in its usual place.

It is also said that if a couple come to have intercourse on this spot, or nearby, which they do frequently, great drops of sweat drip from the stone. The same thing happens if a man and a woman simply fondle each other there. If they do have intercourse, no child is ever born as a result of what they have done.
